11-Year-Old Filipina Rejected by a School in England Turns Out to be a Genius

Aylesbury Grammar School is the school of choice of 11-year-old Mia Golosino. According to her mother, Mary, Mia wanted to go to an all-girls-school because she is big on girl power and did not want to be outsmarted by boys.

Mia applied in the said school but she failed to secure a place due to ‘oversubscription’.

Her parents wanted to appeal the school’s decision so they arranged for Mia to take an exam at Mensa, the largest and oldest high-IQ society in the world.

The biggest surprise came when they received a mail from Mensa inviting Mia to join them.

“We could not believe our eyes upon seeing the invitation letter. She just needed one of the results within top 2 per cent to become a member of the British Mensa,” her father, Jose, said.

They were amazed to find out that Mia scored the highest possible mark of 162—more than Albert Einstein who is believed to have had an IQ of 160.

“When we first told her, she said, ‘what does that mean’. When we took the test, we didn’t think much would come from it. We just thought it might help get Mia into good schools,” Mary added.

Mary further described Mia, who will be attending the Royal Grammar School in Buckingham, as someone who put a lot of pressure on herself and had such little confidence in herself.

“This is exactly what she needs,” Mary added.
