“Ano ba trabaho ng journalist? GMRC teacher ba tayo na wala ng pupunahin kundi manners and etiquette?”

A viral post lambasting journalists for minding the manners & etiquette of Duterte rather than doing their job is making the rounds online.

In a Facebook post that has been shared more than 2600 times as of Thursday morning, journalist Ira Panganiban, formerly of ABS-CBN once again defended President-elect Duterte from his colleagues who have been producing stories about the latter’s lack of manner and etiquette.

At the same time. Mr. Panganiban castigated onion-skinned journalists who write stories about their emotions being pricked rather than stick to writing stories about the incoming President’s policy pronouncements in the next six years.

In the post, Mr. Panganiban shared an anecdote about a junior reporter who called him, complaining he was called “stupid” by a police officer. Guess what he told him? Read below!

Not so long ago, a reporter of ABS-CBN called me while I was Desk Manager on duty to complain that the police officer he was covering called him stupid. Guess what I told him? I said “Hindi kita pinapunta dyan para ngumangakngak, kundi para mag-interview. Mag-interview ka! Hindi istorya ang feelings mo!”

Please read the full text of the story below.

I am so tired of reading and hearing how rude, uncouth, immoral and improper President Rodrigo Duterte is.

Yeah, yeah, he talks bad, curses and says words not normally used by decent(sic) people.

So what! Eh ano ngayon?

Ano ba trabaho ng reporter at journalist? GMRC teacher ba tayo na wala ng pupunahin kundi manners and etiquette?
Why are we so sensitive na pag nagmura o sumipol o nang-alaska yung matanda, nakakalimutan na natin yung trabaho natin?

And I guess that is the same comment I want to tell those covering Duterte, hindi po story ang feelings ninyo.

What are your thoughts on this? Please feel free to comment.
