Drugstore Staff Earns Praise for Thoughtful Gesture to ‘Suki’ Whose Father Died

A staff at a Mercury Drug branch has gone viral for her thoughtful gesture to a ‘suki’ (regular customer) whose father recently died.

James Hermogenes shared how he was at Mercury Drug Bocaue Branch in Bocaue, Bulacan to ask for a refund on some unused medications because his father had died the previous week. After the transaction, he was surprised to receive a pack from the drugstore staff.

Inside the pack was a box of Toblerone which had the message: “Wala po akong alam na gamut pampasaya… (I don’t know any medicine that will make you feel happy…)

Touched by the gesture, Hermogenes posted a snapshot of the chocolate on Facebook where it quickly went viral. He also thanked other Mercury Drug staff not just from that branch but also from other branches in Bulacan, namely Mercury Drug Balagtas Bulacan, Mercury Drug Meycauayan, and Mercury Drug V. Luna.

He mentioned names from these branches and tagged Rechel Sandiego in the post as the one who thoughtfully gave him the chocolate.

Hermogenes acknowledged how much the staff from these Mercury branches had helped them out as their family struggled during the months that their parents were sick.

You guys have served my Mom and Dad well during the most trying moments of their lives up to their last breathe. Thank you for making things lighter and easier for customers like us,” he wrote.

He hopes that the staff would continue their great service to customers despite the sometimes nasty and rude remarks or complaints they receive from those who couldn’t understand that they have a difficult job to fulfill.

According to Hermogenes, he also hopes that there would be more people like these Mercury Drug staff who show just how much they love their job and have a heart to serve and help people.
