Forced to Work after Getting Abandoned by Parents, Housemaid Fulfills Dream and Graduates Magna Cum Laude

Life wasn’t easy for April Joy Daanton who came from a broken family living in Iloilo City, in the province of Iloilo, central Philippines. At a young age, she was forced to work as housemaid after her parents separated.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo, she revealed that her mother left them when she was young and her father left the country soon after, for a job. She never heard from any of her parents since then.

Forced to fend for herself, the young April Joy went to work as housemaid yet she continued going to school, thanks to her understanding employers who let her juggle her studies with her work.

She lived a difficult life, needing to balance her studies without letting that interfere with her job but she managed to surpass all the challenges and graduated from college, magna cum laude, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) from Iloilo Science and Technology University.

Garnering this honor was worth every challenge she had to face in her life, the ecstatic graduate said. And surely, this would help pave a better life for herself in the coming days!

Congratulations, April Joy Daanton! Looking forward to hearing about your success in the board exams and in looking for a job…
