After posting a malicious article announcing that Duterte may declare Martial Law next week, the PDI has been getting flak on social media.

Former DILG Secretary Rafael Alunan III joined netizens in condemning the popular broadsheet and online newspaper calling the article ‘irresponsible’ while asking the people behind the newspaper to ask public apology on bend knees.

Irresponsible news reporting by this media outlet that has lost its credibility. That is incorrect according to Sec Delfin Lorenzana. They owe President Duterte an apology; they owe Sec Lorenzana an apology; and it should apologize on its knees to the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, Mike Acebedo Lopez, another pro-Duterte blogger took a swipe at anti-Duterte critics who enthusiastically shared the PDI news article with captions like “God help us” – “I told you so” – “Duterte pa more!” – “Gising, Pilipinas” but in the end, have to bury their heads in the sand in embarrassment after the Inquirer took back its erroneous post.

“God help us” – “I told you so” – “Duterte pa more!” – “Gising, Pilipinas”

These (and more) were captions from anti-Duterte people all too eager to share the news from Inquirer that President Duterte is to declare martial law next week.

Too bad for these supposedly staunch anti-fake news advocates, Inquirer has since changed their headline and story. In the mean time, said fear mongers have spread the word. So who’s spreading fake news now?

That’s the problem when your wire agency is painfully biased, and since the Manila bureau chief of Agence France-Presse is impossibly anti-Duterte, this is what you get.

Ladies and gents, this is one of the reasons why the public has started to trust bloggers more. The people have been left to their own devices because they don’t know who to believe anymore.
