Former military rebel becomes intensely emotional after seeing this photo of a soldier hoisting a tattered Philippine flag in Marawi

After Cory Aquino became president, these young military officers (RAM-YOU) launched several coup d’ etats to unseat the Aquino government but failed.

One of those idealistic military officers was Abe Purugganan, a Scout Ranger who believed change can come from the end of the barrel of the gun.

After his military adventurism days was over, he retreated to private life and give up hope that his dream for a better Philippines will remain just a dream. Until the Mayor from Davao City named Rodrigo Duterte came.

Purugganan poured out his heart on Facebook after seeing the photo of a soldier fixing a tattered flag in the battle field of Marawi City.

Let read his heartwarming post below.

I almost gave up what I fought for until Rodrigo Duterte came. I saw in him the fulfilment of our dreams for the country. He carried our aspirations for what we fought for when I was with the RAM-YOU. After being dormant for many years, I felt renewed with revolutionary fervor when I heard him of his aspirations for the country. This prompted me to reengage back into the political life of our nation thru the power of technology.

I knew that Pres Duterte will be facing a tremendous stronghold to block the fulfilment of his campaign promises that is directly opposite to the interest of the political elite. So, I joined the millions of Filipinos who share his ideals and stand to defend him and see the fruition of his aspiration for our country.

Yes, there is an unfinish business. While the old RAM-YOU that I know, which reckoned it’s beginning in the unfinished revolution of 1896, to me it is an unfinished revolution that must be completed since I joined the movement in August 28, 1987.

“Our dream shall never die” used to be my banner until I left the organization. Many of us wanted to make that dream come true and not keep on dreaming. But I see that dream now in the horizon and it is so near for it come to reality. And by the grace of God, Pres Duterte with the unwavering support of the majority of the Filipino people will see it through to reality. May God bless us and bring it to pass.

Netizen Lou Agustin remarked: “Yes, Sir Abe, our dreams will never go in vain! We will all be together, hand in hand, in pursuing this dream for the love of our country, and for the love of our children and next generations. We may no longer be around within the next few years, but we are trying our best to finish the so-called “unfinished revolution”. Thank you very much, Sir, for your sense of patriotism! Salute to you and to the others who are joining us in our fight for true freedom from the political elites and oligarchs. God bless the Philippines!”
