The debate rages on whether Comelec will allow an extension for the Liberal Party to comply with the requirement to submit a SOCE or Statements of Contributions and Expenses (SOCEs) by those who ran for elective posts last May 9.
Speculations are rife that Mar Roxas intentionally failed to file the Liberal Party SOCE’s because LP members abandoned them and switched allegiance to the incoming President’s political party.
A netizen named Celestino Espinosa from Cebu writes:
The strongest reason why LP – Pnoy and Mar Roxas failed or intentionally fail to file SOCE on time was because LP candidates abandoned them. Its Karma in its purest sense of the word. Look how shrewd these turncoats were. Pnoy the LP president is still the sitting president when his minions abandoned him at will and right in the noses of Pnoy and Mar and sided with Pres. Duterte.
Pnoy and Mar said – “Hoi buhay pa kami, wag kaming iwanan agad.” It was an insult in its highest order. Further, the LP monies were siphoned off by LP candidates starting from the Vice-President down to senators, congressmen, and local candidates and for this reason, Mar lost.
The premature abandonment of LP winners to Duterte camp is likened to a “widow who immediately remarry even before the 40 days mourning lapses. What a tragic event in Philippine politics.
Meanwhile, Dr. Antonio Contreras of La Salle has a different take on Mar Roxas late filing of SOCE’s and quote:
It looks like a karma moment. There are allegations of widespread and massive cheating committed by LP.
In the light of the fact that the party failed to submit the party’s SOCE as prescribed by law (30 days after the election, which was on June 8, 2016), then are we now seeing the specter of a widespread filing of disqualification cases against the winning party candidates from Vice President down the line to Councilor?
