The supporters of Ms. Gina Lopez on social media grieves after the news of her failure to get the nod of the powerful CA circulates online.
One of them is journalist Ira Panganiban who used to work as a field reporter and sport caster of the Lopez-owned ABS-CBN but found a new home in the radio broadcasting and motoring industry.
Lopez is one Duterte’s hardworking underlings and Panganiban who is a staunch supporter of the President openly campaigned on social media asking the CA members to approved her appointment as DENR Secretary.
In light of the CA’s (Commission of Appointment) rejection of Lopez approval, Panganiban wants something drastic to express his disappointment to the point of even abandoning his opposition of giving revolutionary powers to Duterte.
His reason why he opposes giving Duterte revolutionary powers is that, he fears the idea of too much power vested in one man.
On Facebook, journalist Ira Panganiban explicitly endorse revolutionary powers to the President.
To give us what prompted Panganiban to have a change of heart, let us read his Facebook post together below.
I don’t like the idea of a revolutionary government for Digong Duterte. I really fear the idea of too much power vested in one man.
But as I was watching today’s confirmation hearings at the CA it struck me hard that I cannot also tolerate too much power spread out to a few individuals who project themselves as the savior of the nation.
I saw individuals voting to reject Gina Lopez not because she was passionate about the environment and her job but because she was “too arrogant!”
Since when has arrogance prevented people from achieving the best for their goals.
Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are both arrogant pricks and yet they were allowed to succeed because they knew their job!
What these people cannot accept is that Gina Lopez had the audacity to point out to their faces that they were wrong!
That the constitutional provisions for the care of the environment trumps whatever smaller law their mining company clients can throw at her.
That if push comes to shove, their mining company clients will loose in a court of law because the constitution beats RA’s and AO’s and PD’s.
Because time and again, no matter what we think of the Supreme Court, it has always proven to be on the side of the country’s basic charter.
But if we have a group of powerful persons waving in our faces their impunity and immunity from the will of the people by banding together and preventing what is right from coming up then I guess we should begin the process of weeding them out and not allowing them to return.
And the idea of a revolutionary government becomes attractive because the laws have now been corrupted to the level that any legal means will always be defeated by these very people who are in the position to decide what is right or wrong based in their whims and caprices and not on the law.
They say they admire her passion but fear her arrogance.
I say I abhor your corruption and condemn your greed.
Panganiban ended his post with the hashtag #syetdapwet kayo.
Florizel Chavez remarked: “It was supposed to be country first before self interest…..Many Filipino are really losing their patience now with this current rotten system. We are nearing the boiling point…..”
Bong Sy said: “Syet Da Pwet talaga…This Trapos are manipulating our Country at the expense of our Natural Habitat and the Poor People… Abolished Congress and lets have a Federal Govt…”
Annie Palomar-Nudas commented: “Agree! Politicians are afraid to let someone passionate shine, they are afraid of Gina’s passion and perceive it as arrogance. Pag pinoy gusto nila naninikluhod ang tao para ma appoint. Ang CA members ang threatened kay Gina at lumalabas na sila ang arogante. Grrr”
