The much-talked issue lately on Facebook is the announcement of the Duterte camp to have a separate inauguration with VP-elect Leni Robredo.
In recent memory, the inauguration of the President and the Vice-President has always been a joint endeavor, but not this time says President-elect Duterte.
The supporters from the opposing camps have a different take on the issue and have been exchanging barbs as of this writing.
The supporters of President-elect Duterte have nothing but praises for him because he prefers a simple inauguration, punctuated by a “turon and juice” refreshments for the 500 selected guests while critics lambast him for creating an impression of disunity among Filipinos.
Meanwhile, a De La Salle political science professor has a different take on the handling of the Robredo camp with regards to the wishes of President-elect Duterte to have a separate inauguration.
He says he is bothered the way Robredo and her handlers are playing up the issue.
A simple announcement of holding separate inaugurations would have been enough without reference to their wish of a joint one which now paints the incoming President in a slightly negative light.
Furthermore, Dr. Contreras castigated Leni Robredo and her handlers for playing the “underdog” card and quote:
But then again this may be their drama. Paawa effect. Feeling sidelined. Her Daenerys Targaryen peg.
If you are a big fan of the HBO hit series, “Game of Thrones”, guess you can relate with Dr. Contreras parting shot at Leni Robredo and quote:
Well, she keeps this up and she may end like Cersei Lannister complaining about her harsh treatment from the High Sparrow being told by Lady Olenna that her misery is one bright spot.
