During the Marawi crisis, Robredo calls for donation for the relief efforts intended for victims of the attacks in Marawi City.
This is not the first time Robredo turned to the private sector and the NGO’s for help, claiming that the Office of the Vice President lack the resources to do so, alone. Partly true.
According to the 2016 COA report, the OVP have spent only two-thirds of its annual budget.
COA says this is not good.
However, a Robredo supporter tweeted that Robredo has achieved a lot for less money.
Hindi masyadong gumastos pero maraming nagawa. Wala pa syang key position nyan ah. https://t.co/kAEPqF68R4

Let us read the comment of COA regarding underspending.
Robredo’s office showed poor absorptive capacity, resulting in underspending that led to “undelivered services that could have benefited more indigents/underprivileged Filipinos.” [Philippine Daily Inquirer]
Sass Rogando Sasot, blogger and number 1 Robredo critic urged the public to ask Robredo why she insisted the OVP has no budget that is why she turns to the private sector and NGO’s for help in funding her programs for the poor when COA says otherwise.
“Dapat tanungin natin si Leni Robredo bakit siya nag-claim na walang sapat na pondo ang kanyang opisina kaya siya humihingi ng tulong sa mga NGOs at private sector para sa laylayan ng lipunan gayong meron naman pala talagang budget ang kaniyang opisina.”
Let me dirct your attention to Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno’s opinion on underspending.
“With the huge backlog in public infrastructure, deepening poverty, and stubbornly high joblessness, it is near criminal for the administration not to be able to spend what little has been authorized by Congress.” Read link here.
Meanwhile, here some of the comments of netizens regarding Robredo’s underspending.
Joy Del Rosario commented: “They’re saving it for the next election. Pang campaign at pambayad sa mga trolls!”
Pina Co Lada remarked: “If she underspents and prefers media mileage than actual project, better gawin nalang zero budget ng congreso yan”
