A post containing the “OPEN LETTER” of an OPM singer rebuking Senator Grace Poe for aspiring to be President despite her lack of experience has been making the rounds online recently.
In a Facebook post shared more than 700 times, Noel Cabangon, the songwriter and singer of the hit song “Kanlungan” and many other OPM hits published an open letter castigating Grace Poe for having the temerity to run for President despite her questionable track records and loyalty for the country.

I cannot vote for your candidate because we never struggled together for the country.
In fact, I don’t know if your candidate ever really sacrificed for the Philippines. Yes, your candidate is very good at speaking about various social concerns, but your candidate does not really know what she is talking about beyond what can be read from prepared notes.
Was your candidate ever in the streets or involved in any cause before the sudden rise in popularity? What does your candidate really put on the table besides a glib tongue?
For me, your candidate’s sudden concern for farmers must be met with suspicion and grave concern, for where was your candidate over the many years of struggle for agrarian reform? For land rights? For a decent life?
To ride on their plight just to win political points and peddle lies and lines that are far from the truth smacks of opportunism and abuse of power. For that alone, I cannot possibly ever support your candidate.
And I cannot understand how anybody can ever vote for your candidate when she once swore allegiance to another country, pledged to protect that country above any other.
For all of us who invested all of our hopes and dreams here in the Philippines, this is morally reprehensible.
So no, I cannot and will not ever vote for your candidate.
What is your take on the open letter?
