Pixar’s Brave tops box-office, beating Madagascar 3 and Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter

Pixar has made another certified hit and also established a first. Brave is the first animated movie of Pixar that has a female lead character and it tops this week’s box-office.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brave earned $24.5 million on Friday. It closely matched last year’s box-office performance of Cars 2, which earned $25.7 million also on Friday.

Coming in at #2 is the another animated movie from Dreamworks, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. The wild and wacky animals from Dreamworks earned $20.7 million this Friday. The #3 spot went to Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter that earned $6.3 million this Friday.

Other strong box-office performers are Prometheus, Rock of Ages and Snow White and the Huntsman.
