For the week Jun 3 – 5, X-Men: First Class topped the box office with opening sale of more than $55.1M but last weekend is “Super 8”, J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg chance to claim the top spot.
Super 8 is a totally entertaining and frenetic ensemble teen sci-fi popcorn movie that defied all the naysayers.
Summer box-office opening sale for top spot slightly went down and for X-Men, the slice for its last week sale is more than a half which makes them earn $25M last weekend.
At third position is The Hangover Part II, already on its third week earning $18.5M to make their $216.6M gross sale for the entire 3 weeks.
Also on its third week is Kung Fu Panda 2 for the fourth spot,earns $16.6M and now with total of $126.9M gross sales.
At fifth spot is Johny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean:On Stranger Tides with co-star Penelope Cruz made $10.8M on their fourth week. With last week’s sale, the movie made a $200M gross sales in US alone. But worldwide, Pirates of the Caribbean is closing in on $900 million and pushing the franchise total to over $3.5 billion.
