A young Filipina singer living in Australia named Marlisa Punzalan caught the attention of the internet recently.
The teenager tried her luck in the Australian version of the hit show X Factor back in 2014.
Upon entering the stage for a live audition in front of the show’s judges, Marlisa did not seem to come off as a very confident performer. She looked nervous during the first few minutes.
The judges did not help increase her confidence when they pointed out her outfit. Marlisa was wearing colorful pants with a rather childish alphabet design. It looked like the judges were not going to take her seriously because of her outfit.
But Marlisa quickly made the judges forget about her “funky” pants when she started singing. They didn’t expect a young girl to have such a mature-sounding singing voice.
Marlisa delighted the audience and the judges with a beautiful cover of ‘Yesterday’ by The Beatles.
Despite the rocky start, the singer’s audition went very well.
Marlisa stayed in the competition until the end of the season.
She was named the grand winner of that season of The X Factor Australia a few months later.
However, she never wore those pants on the show again.
