As the legends go, mermaids were sea creatures with the lower body of a fish’s and the upper torso of a beautiful human woman.
Many people believed that mermaids existed and some will continue to do so today. While mainstream science has rejected the existence of mermaids as mere folklore, a viral video has some netizens convinced they’re real.
The viral video clip has been uploaded on several different websites claiming to irrefutable proof of the existence of these creatures.
Indeed, in this screen cap of a drone camera’s video with several humanoid-like figures with aquatic tails can be seen swimming together.
However, our research has found out that this drone footage isn’t anywhere close to anything related to mermaids.
The creatures aren’t mermaid mermaids, but a pod of dolphins and whales swimming off Dana Point, California. The original video was uploaded by the “Dolphin Safari” YouTube channel.

Naturally that means this video was made into a hoax by several other sites. Even if mermaids aren’t real, this video still features the true beauty of real dolphins.
This captivating drone footage just goes to show that you don’t need to make up wild stories of mythical creatures for people to appreciate the wonders of nature.
