In a surprising turn of events, Timothy Bradley stuns the entire crowd in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Arena. Bradley wins by split decision and defeats Manny Pacquiao to become the new WBO welterweight champion.
Timothy Bradley stunned the capacity crowd in Las Vegas. Everyone thought the fight would again go to Manny Pacquaio as the Pacman found his range in the middle and later rounds. However, Bradley would be able to stay with Pacquiao and land some clutch shots, especially during the 9th and 10th round. When everyone turned to the scorecards, all judges scored 115-113. Two favored Bradley, one went to Pacquiao so Bradley wins the fight by the scorecards.
What was kind of intriguing is during the later rounds, the crowd was actually booing Timothy Bradley. Bradley was backing off during the last few rounds as he declined to trade blows with Manny Pacquiao for fear of being on the receiving end of Pacquiao’s powershots. Many didn’t agree with the split decision victory of Bradley, much less with the scorecards.
Still, there are no appeals here. There are no replays. If there will be a rematch, that will be for another time. Timothy Bradley is the new WBO welterweight champion. And he remains undefeated and has pulled a stunner with no less than future boxing Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao.
